He is married to Hazel Howell Vaughn of Dublin, Georgia. They are the parents of two daughters, Anna and Elizabeth. They are grandparents of three beautiful grandchildren. Bruce and Hazel are completely unbiased in that opinion.
Bruce holds degrees from Mercer University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Following ordination in 1980, he began his ministry serving in Baptist churches in Louisiana and Georgia. In 1995 Bruce and his family joined the United Methodist Church. Since 1995 Bruce has served congregations in the South Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church.
Bruce has been playing the guitar since 1974. He is currently learning to play the ukulele – a work in progress. He sings bass in the sanctuary choir and looks forward to learning how to play the ukulele well enough to join the ukulele choir.
Bruce is gregarious, personable, outgoing, and people focused. Together, pastor and people have seen God bless their ministry as they seek to love God and love one another.
